The region’s main asset is its climate which is influenced both by the Mediterranean and the mountains. It is Mediterranean in that it gives the region « a clear blue sky and an exceptional number of hours of sunshine ».
It is the Serre Chevalier villages, with their 3500 people which provide the heart- beat of our mountains.
Here you can enjoy free visits to several monuments: the Saint Marcellin church where you will find treasure, or the very interesting Saint-Barthélémy chapel, as well as visit the village of Bez or discover sundials.

Le Parc national des Ecrins (National Park) |

At the junction between the Northern and the Southern Alps, the « Parc des Écrins » is one of the largest and highest open areas in the Alps (with a culminating point at 4,102 m, and more than 150 summits between 3,000 and 4, 000 m). Eagles, chamois deer, ibex, marmots, wood grouse, partridges, white coats, stoats… and in total 167 rare and vulnerable species offer a wealth of variety equalled only by the Flora. 40 % of the total flora in France can be found here, including alpine sea-hollies, lilies, gentians…or even altitude plants, androsace , saxifrage, catch-flies, wormwood, edelweiss… |

This is a secret paradise in the highest section of the Alps very near Montgenèvre and Briançon, on the French-Italian border. This is a registered Nature Conservation Site, which offers breathtaking natural splendours – mountain torrents, wild rhododendrons and high altitude lakes. |

Meije, a myth |
The Meije « Queen » reaches its highest point at 3,983 m and overlooks the Romanche valley. The highest glaciers are easily accessed by the la Grave cabin lift. Impressive and magical, it is a place which has left its mark in the history of mountaineering and today it has become an international paradise for snow sports of all kinds. |
